I am Haley Jeffers, and I am a sophomore attending Rancho Campana High School. Last April, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, which had an enormous impact on my life. As I witnessed how she struggled to find ways to reduce the nausea and weakness that came from chemotherapy, I had the idea to bring together cancer patients and just share what worked best for them -- and the idea for Spritely was formed. With my family and friends, we have worked towards creating our final app and simplifying the journey for cancer patients.
Hi there! My name is Rachel Black and I’m a 10th grader attending Rancho Campana High School. When Haley proposed this incredible idea, I couldn’t help but join her. I felt a connection to the purpose of this endeavor. My grandmother passed away from breast cancer, and I knew I needed to aid in this project for her. This was a challenge at first, since I had absolutely zero experience in coding a website. However, through the help of an amazing mentor and the support of my two friends, we were able to create this beautiful website. I hope you appreciate the effort we put in over the last 21 hours towards this Hackathon challenge.
My name is Alyssa Pacheco, and I’m a sophomore at Rancho Campana High School. Haley Jeffers is one of my very close friends at my school. She started the company Spritely and I was immediately interested from the start. I am very passionate about the subject of cancer since one of my family members was affected. My father was diagnosed with cancer when I was little, he thankfully recovered. However, recently he had to undergo another surgery. Since I was little when he was first affected, I couldn’t do much to help, but now I can. So, I joined Spritely and Students Take On Cancer, which is a club at Rancho Campana High School. These two organizations make me feel like I am doing something to help people. Even though what we’re currently doing is small, I hope that we can make a difference in the world.
